In honor of #InternationalPodcastDay here are my current favorite podcasts!
1. BEAUTIFUL ANONYMOUS
“Beautiful Stories From Anonymous People”.
This may be my all-time favorite podcast for the premise alone. 1 hour phone conversation between Chris Gethard, a NJ comedian, and an anonymous caller. Episodes range from super deep topics to funny/antidotal discussions. It’s amazing to hear how deep some of these callers get and the details they share of their lives.
If there is one thing this podcast has taught me, it is that fact truly is stranger than fiction. He also does “follow-up” episodes with some of the wildest callers which is always fun to see how their lives have progressed since the original episode. Here are a few of my favorite episodes so far :: 204. Hit By A Truck, 65. Deaf., 121. Prison Bound, 119. 39-year-old Grandma, 72. Aussie Best Friend… I could keep going but start with some of those!
2. GOOD FOR YOU
With Whitney Cummings.
I think I favor comedians for podcasts for obvious reasons. TBH, I think I’ve only seen once of her specials and stumbled upon her podcast while spending every day on YouTube — but I am addicted now. She has a great way of just conversing with her guests — and she has guests from every walk of life. Which makes it easy to add to my top 5 favorite podcasts list.
Whitney Cummings keeps the conversation flowing and her laugh makes me laugh so 🤙🏼. Favorite episodes so far :: 44. Andrew Huberman ((!!)), 40. Olivia Munn, 1. David Levy, 41. Miranda Cosgrove, and 5. Jim Jefferies.
3. WAKE UP WITH WESLIE
Upbeat + happy.
I love this podcast because Weslie is so upbeat. AND she has the best guests on that I haven’t heard from on any other podcasts.
From Cara Loren, Kelsey Wells, to the drama with Indy’s brand, Lonely Ghost, + Addison Rae she covers so many lifestyle, health, wellness, and cultural topics it is a great lighthearted listen for when you want to brighten your mood but still gain insight into important topics and raw emotion. Listen here!
4. CRIME JUNKIES
Do not listen after dark.
Just saying the name has their little theme song running through my head… Sooo, Crime Junkie can be polarizing. Many people think it is crime-porn or just simply too dark.
BUT this podcast is the main reason I stayed away during my 13-hour solo road trip to Charleston this summer. It is interesting, engaging, and honestly chilling. Some episodes have scarred me, not going to lie… but I keep listening. Well, at least while the sun is up. I kid you not I can’t listen to the episodes once the sun in down.
5. JOE ROGAN EXPERIENCE
Another comedian hosted podcast…
Before you bash me, he just has the best guests on and I love the long-form, completely relaxed format. I love listening//watching podcasts while I work, clean, get ready… pretty much all the time.
Rogan’s podcast episodes are always are in-depth, long-form conversations and he has elite guests that you never would hear speak that unedited and for that long. The different perspectives are definitely refreshing and insightful.
I’m always looking for new podcasts to fall in love with so please please comment them below or DM me on instagram and share your favorites with me! ((@laynabayna))
