Is a sunrise hot air balloon ride in Cappadocia worth it? With a price tag of $150-$300 per person for a one hour flight, it definitely can become an expensive excursion. However, I wholeheartedly believe splurging on experiences is greater than splurging on things. And splurging is even more acceptable to make the most out of the few days in a destination. But, is it worth it?
Or I just tell myself my favorite quote, “Don’t spend less, earn more”.
We spent closer to $300 per person since we booked our entire trip to Turkey one month before we left. We booked our balloon ride even closer to our trip’s start date so we were lucky to have gotten a time slot. Cappadocia hot air balloon rides are normally booked months, if not years, in advance. BUT I would spend that $300 over and over again to experience the feeling leading up to the flight, the flight itself, and the high you feel for the rest of the day is so worth it.
IT IS WORTH IT.
The tour starts with a van picking you up at your airbnb or hotel around 5:30am. After a little breakfast pastry + juice box to start your morning, you make your way to the valley where the balloons take off from. We got incredibly lucky with weather. 6pmh+ winds will cause your flight to be rescheduled — only if there is room for you on a later day’s flight…
Excitement and anticipation flooded our bus as we drove to the hot air balloons. You’ll feel like a kid on their way to a field trip. Any exhaustion from waking up at 4am is quickly forgotten as you wind through all of the balloons being prepped in the valley.
