Between discussing déjà vu with Shane and then witnessing this stunning scenery at Ramapo County Reservation, parallel universes have been a topic on conversation for me recently. Besides being one of my favorite Red Hot Chili Pepper songs, I find it fascinating that there is potential for alternate universes that branch off of our own. I am totally a nerd when it comes to astronomy. I could go on and on about how amazed I am at our vast, expanding, mysterious universe but I’ll save that for another time. If you ever have the chance to take an Astronomy course, I highly recommend it. Out of all the core curriculum course I had to take at Fordham, it was my favorite because it puts into perspective just how tiny we are.
Anyways… Back to photography.
This is the photo prior to being cropped for Instagram. I lightened the shadows a bit and upped the saturation, but the rest is how my lovely iPhone 6 captured it. The sky is almost perfectly reflected in the still water of the lake — however, the blurriness adds an intriguing element to the photo. My favorite aspect of the rotated photo is “Milky Way” in the top left corner. Even though it is actually the floor of the lake. The branches that frame the photo are positioned in the perfect way to help trick your eyes into believing that they are, interchangeably, part of either a tree or bush — from the sky or the ground. This helps to suggest that the rotated photo appears right side up.
Some things become more appealing from a different perspective.
